Tour the Brown Cottage, believed to be the oldest standing structure in Jackson, built around 1818 in the Carolina Lowlands style.  John Browder and Samuel M. Brown started a business there in the newly founded Town of Jackson, and the house was initially used as both a store and residence. The brick and beams in the basement are original to the house.    Many prominent early settlers of Jackson have lived in the home through the years.
